The Big Seven ….
How Do We Treat Others?
Proverbs 6:16–19: “These SIX things does the Lord HATE; yes, SEVEN are an Abomination unto him. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speak lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.”
The real focus of the “Big Seven” is not simply what we do, but how our actions affect others.
When we find ourselves practicing any of these seven things, we are not only causing hurt and harm to others—we can also bring harm upon ourselves. God calls us to examine not only our actions, but the heart and motives behind them.
Notice how the “Big Seven” involve the very ways we interact with others.
Our eyes.
Our tongue.
Our hands.
Our heart.
Our feet.
Our mouth.
These are powerful instruments of influence.
So the question becomes:
What are we doing with our eyes, tongue, hands, heart, feet, and mouth to influence those around us?
God desires that our influence reflect His heart ❤️
and not our selfishness, pride, or lustful desires.
This passage is more than a list of behaviors to avoid. It is an invitation to all of us to Examine Ourselves.
As most importantly, Please don’t be the REASON or the CAUSE for HURT and HARM to others.
You never know what someone is already carrying.
You never know the battles behind their smile, the tears they cried in private, or the wounds they are trying to heal.
