The EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are considering changes to the definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS) that could significantly reduce federal protections for streams and wetlands.

Why does this matter for Suffolk? Even small, seasonal streams and wetlands play an important role in filtering pollutants, absorbing stormwater, and protecting the health of the Nansemond River, Chuckatuck Creek, and Bennett's Creek.
