🎉 Congratulations to Crew 261’s new 2026–2027 President, Jaydalin Smith! 🎉

Jaydalin has already been putting in the work in Crew 261, most recently serving as interim Vice President of Administration before officially taking over as Crew President on tonight. A Life and Discovery Rank Scout with multiple leadership trainings under her belt.

Jaydalin was also one of the youth who helped plan our first major Crew trip to Acadia National Park, working alongside her new Vice President to turn an idea into an incredible adventure. Now she’s stepping into the President role with even bigger adventures on the horizon: beginning work on our 2027 trips to Knox Cave and Mt. Katahdin as well as looking even farther ahead toward Japan in 2028 to lay that ground work.

Of course, finding a good picture of Jaydalin for this announcement presented its own challenge. Finding one where she’s actually looking at the camera and smiling? Even harder. 😂 So naturally, this one was taken while she was nearly 1,000 feet up on the infamous Precipice Trail in Acadia, Maine. Apparently dangling off the side of a mountain is what it takes to get a smile for the camera.

She brings plenty of adventure experience with her, too. Her Scouting record already includes a tenure as Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 262 and a long standing role as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.

We’re excited to see where Jaydalin and the rest of the new Crew 261 leadership team take us next.

Less screen time. More star gazing. More adventure. More confidence.

Come out to the Suffield Green on Saturday, August 29 from 9 AM–1 PM and see what Scouting in Suffield is all about!

Members of Boy Scout Troop 66 of Suffield CT, along with Scouts from other Suffield units, will be on the Green showing off some of the skills, activities, and adventures that make Scouting so much fun.

If you've been looking for something that gets your child off the couch, away from the screen, and out into the real world, come talk to us.

Scouting gives kids a chance to camp under the stars, hike mountains, paddle rivers, learn outdoor skills, travel to new places, serve their community, make friends, and discover just how much they're capable of doing for themselves.

And they can grow with the program.

Suffield is home to multiple Scouting America units with opportunities for youth from age 5 through 20 — from kindergarten all the way into college.

That's years of adventures, friendships, leadership, confidence, and skills they'll carry for a lifetime.

You don't need to know anything about Scouting. You don't need camping experience. Just bring the kids, stop by, ask questions, and see what opportunities are waiting for them.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by the Golden Gavel and supported Venturing Crew 261 this weekend! 🍪

Whether you placed an Oreo order or simply dropped a few dollars into our donation bucket, we truly appreciate your support.

Every dollar raised helps send our crew on this summer's adventure to Acadia National Park, where we'll be exploring the rugged Maine coast, tackling incredible hikes, and making the early morning climb up Cadillac Mountain to watch the first sunrise in the United States. 🌅🥾

Fundraisers like this do more than help us get there—they give our youth the opportunity to work together, earn their own adventures, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who supported us, encouraged us, and helped make the fundraiser a success. We also want to thank the Golden Gavel for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people in our community.
