Creative Response to Conflict (CRC) is a non-profit organization that educates individuals and groups to transform conflict into positive and constructive experiences that contribute to building a just and peaceful world. CRC provides schools, families, organizations, and communities with opportunities to develop skills in addressing conflict and preventing and repairing harm. Our commitment to no
nviolence and social change informs our work with young people, educators, people in prison and re-entry, and communities working to end racism and other forms systemic bias and inequality. We believe there are creative and constructive alternatives to deal with conflict and harm. Unlike punishment, a restorative approach can help break the cycle of violence, encourage growth and healing, and transform communities. Our workshops and circles focus on the CRC themes cooperation, communication, affirmation, conflict resolution, bias awareness, creative responses to bullying, problem-solving, restorative practices, and mediation. Established in 1972 by the NY Quaker Project on Community Conflict, and initially known as Children’s Creative Response to Conflict, the organization developed a practical and theoretical framework for teaching nonviolence through character and social skills development, using an innovative experiential approach incorporating multiple learning modalities. From 1978 to 1992, CRC was a program of the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR), an interfaith peace organization. In 1992, the organization incorporated independently as Creative Response to Conflict, Inc.
