For the 5th year in a row we’re getting our community together to run/walk for our survivors and victims of the Holocaust. Feeling the energy of moving together and raising funds together for a charity that is close to all of our hearts helps to elevate us individually and as a community. It is our pleasure and privilege to run for the survivors of Holocaust that live right here in Rockland County.

They’re worked tirelessly during Covid to educate our younger generations on their experiences of the Holocaust. We had 115 school groups visit the museum in the past year!

The funds raised for RUN FOR THE SIX support Cafe Europa which is our monthly program where Holocaust Survivors gather and socialize. Help us honor our survivors, and also remember the 6 million Jews that perished in the Holocaust and couldn’t be here with us today. Their legacy lives on through us! Join us on sept 18th for Run for the Six.

During the “3 weeks” leading up to the destruction of the Holy Temple it’s a time to reflect on why it fell and how we can metaphorically rebuild it. They say that the temple fell because of senseless hatred between Jews. We can “rebuild this temple” in our lives and have a holy safe place to live our lives in peace once we achieve senseless LOVE for our fellows Jews. Even the ones you don’t know, even the ones that have never done anything for you. Senseless, unconditional love is when you love another without cause!

We’re so honored to have had 115 schools and organizations that booked educational programs at the Museum since our Grand Opening in October 2021!

The theme for our programming this year has been Moral Courage – something that I think we can all agree is much needed during these turbulent times. We know that both the administrations and students of our schools have found great value and meaning in our programs. Check out our testimonials!

This makes us hopeful for the future of humanity in the hearts and minds of the young people that visit our exhibits.

Our theme for the 2022-23 school year will be Combatting Hate and Propaganda. Together we will help young people understand the historical context of building cultures of hate through propaganda and misinformation campaigns. We will explore this topic through the history of the Holocaust and other genocides and we will apply critical thinking to how we consume media today.

Programs on Moral Courage will still be available, as well as other topics currently under development. In order to accommodate your school’s preference on programming and dates, we are already booking for the coming school year. Whether you are interested in a tour of our permanent exhibit, the Rockland County African American history exhibit, or other educational programs, we encourage you to reach out now to ensure a meaningful visit with your students next year.

For those of you who have not yet seen our permanent exhibit, we invite you to visit anytime and see what we have to offer! This summer we will be booking small groups, Museum visits, and tours of a new exhibit called "Scrolls of the Holocaust."

We look forward to seeing you soon! For more information, please contact Linda Suss at [email protected] or Galeet Lipke at [email protected] and visit our website: holocauststudies.org.
