Sudbury Valley Trustees is a member-supported non-profit land conservation organization that protects and cares for land in a 36-town region surrounding the Assabet, Concord and Sudbury Rivers.

Join SVT’s Director of Conservation Laura Mattei, Senior Land Protection Specialist Meredith Houghton, and Director of Development Cecil Hynds-Riddle for a special tour of Three Penny Farm in Harvard, one of SVT’s active land protection projects.

⭐️ Saturday, October 24, 10am - 12pm, Harvard, MA

This guided walk will pass through woodland and wetland habitats and a mature apple orchard. Guests will get a sneak peek of this beautiful 34-acre property before the project is complete, and learn about the ongoing effort by SVT, the Town, and the landowner to permanently protect it and expand public access.

Mass Audubon president and CEO David O’Neill joins Boston Public Radio to make the case for the measure and answer questions about budget tradeoffs and whether lawmakers will fund it.

To protect forest understories and healthy habitats, the most effective tool is to reduce the female deer population. For this reason, we grant permits to a limited number of hunters on a few SVT properties. All SVT properties remain open to the public during hunting season, and we post warnings on all trails that access the hunting areas.

Remember to wear blaze orange if you walk the trails.

Have you ever established a rain garden — or wondered what one is and how it works? SVT has opportunities to for you to learn more while helping to restore one!

From October 5–8, the gardening team at Wolbach Farm will be rejuvenating a rain garden that was established more than five years ago and is now in need of some serious attention.

Register for one of the volunteer work day sessions (or several) to help SVT’s gardeners!

Come learn from A Yard & A Half Landscaping and help us transform this overgrown rain garden into a healthy, functional and beautiful landscape.

Work days: October 5, 6, 7, and 8
Morning session: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Afternoon session: 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Pizza lunch: Available between the two sessions!

Sign up for one session, several sessions, or come for the full day. No special experience is
necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get your hands dirty! Sturdy shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty are recommended. We hope you’ll join us and be part of bringing this rain garden back to life!
