The Sudbury Cultural Council (SCC) supports and promotes community originated projects and activities in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences.

The Sudbury Cultural Council was established in 1982 as a part of a state wide program to develop cultural programs in local communities. The State awards grant money to each Town using a formula that includes population and economic status of the Town. The Sudbury Cultural Council consists of a group of interested residents whose purpose is to support community originated projects and activities in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences to benefit the residents of Sudbury. We are appointed by the Selectman to disperse public funding allocated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The budget of the MCC is determined annually by the state legislature in July. Sudbury is assigned its allocation at that time. Every year beginning in the Summer and ending on or about October 15th the Sudbury Cultural Council accepts grant applications for cultural projects or events designed to enrich the lives of our community. We encourage grant applications from residents and from groups who work with Sudbury based organizations for the purpose of enriching Sudbury-life with any variety of cultural activities. Application procedures and grant application forms are available by clicking on the "list of links" below. Sudbury residents interested in participating in the committee should contact the committee chairman at the email address listed below. We welcome and encourage your support.

What Does Culture Mean to You?

At the Mill Village Art Festival and Sudbury Pride Day, we invited residents to answer this simple question.

The responses came quickly:

🎵 Music
💃 Dance
👨‍👩‍👧 Family
🎨 Art
🌈 Diversity
📚 History
🤝 Community

The variety of responses reminds us that culture is different for everyone—and that's what makes it so meaningful.

What would you add to the board?

"🎶 🎻 Live music. Local talent. Community connection.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Lincoln Sudbury Civic Orchestra's spring concert and helped make it such a memorable event.

We were especially delighted to hear the remarkable performances of student soloists Maria Huang and Andrew Xia, whose talent and dedication were on full display.

The Sudbury Cultural Council is proud to support opportunities that bring artists, audiences, and communities together through the arts.

🌈 🎨 Two community events. One mission.

Sudbury Cultural Council had the opportunity to participate in two wonderful community events: the Mill Village Art Festival and Sudbury Pride Day.

Throughout the weekend, we connected with residents, shared information about SCC grants, and invited community members to answer a simple question:

What does culture mean to you?

The responses were thoughtful, creative, and inspiring—and reminded us how many different ways arts, culture, history, and community enrich life in Sudbury.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tables, shared ideas, and helped make these events such a success.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing some of what we learned from those conversations.
