Third space is grounded in community and social space. It facilitates connection and creates a physical and mental break from the everyday. Through our research we study the benefits, successes, and limitations of these types of spaces amongst a variety of user groups with the coffee shop as an example. We review how we can intentionally design similar experiences within our work as designers and individuals and sell these ideas across the industry. “Third Space improves one’s quality of life by providing spaces where one can rest, escape from the mundane, socialize, and emotionally discharge.”
