Our Roxbury Woman's Club crafters were busy crocheting and quilting 20 blankets to donate to the Project Linus North Jersey Chapter. In addition to the blankets, we donated 25 pounds of yarn.

Project Linus is a charitable organization which provides handmade comfort blankets to children from newborn to 18 who are going through illness or trauma. Thanks to Jen and Dolores for chairing and to everyone who created these beautiful blankets! We know they will be much appreciated.

Lots going on at our August Craft/Social Night. Club members are encouraged to bring any crafts they're working on or just come to socialize. This month we had club members working on crochet baby blankets, oil painting, adult coloring and flash cards for one of our club projects.

We also got a chance to see some of the baby blankets club members are making for our donation to Project Linus. More about that project at the end of the month when we'll be donating all the blankets we created, as well as yarn donated.

This week, our walking group stopped by to visit the tree The Roxbury Woman's Club donated, back in 2020, to commenmorate the 100th Anniversary of the Women's Right to Vote.
106 years ago today, on August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment was officially certified and adopted - it guaranteed American women the constitutional right to vote.
Previously, on August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified
when Tennessee became the vital 36th state needed for ratification.
In 1973, this day was designated as Women's Equality Day.
Our tree, a Cercis Black Pearl" tree is doing well. It is planted at Horseshoe Lake.

Thanks to our Environment chairperson, Tricia, for reminding us that August 25th, 2026, is the 110th birthday of the National Park Service...in celebration, Park fees are waived that day; and the week of August 22- 30 is National Park Week, which will include lots of programs and activities at many parks. Celebrate NPS week by visiting some of our local parks:
• Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area: offers 40 miles of the free-flowing Delaware River and scenic hikes like the famous Mount Tammany Trail.
• Morristown National Historical Park: preserves the brutal winter encampment sites of George Washington and the Continental Army. Morristown National Historical Park features extensive hiking trails and a museum.
• Thomas Edison National Historical Park: Tour the laboratory complex where Edison invented the motion picture camera and phonograph.
• Gateway National Recreation Area: features the historic Sandy Hook Lighthouse and excellent beach access
• Appalachian National Scenic Trail: Access the legendary 2,190-mile footpath right at the scenic Delaware Water Gap or at various ridge parking lots along Route 80.

Thanks to everyone who donated to our Community-Wide Food Drive for Roxbury Social Services earlier this month. It was a great success! Thanks to club members Kristen and Nancy, who headed up this effort and many thanks to our club members who volunteered to unload your donations from cars and then sorted them. Thanks to Social Services for being available to assist on a Saturday.
As you know, Social Services is always in need of donations. They are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 am to 1 pm.

Our August Game Night featured Bunco! For some of us, this was our first time playing Bunco. Thanks to those members who made learning it easy. What a fun night!

Our club members had a great time attending the Woman's Club of Parsippany- Troy Hills Tricky Tray recently. We had a fun night supporting their club and won some great prizes!
