Anthony Taylor, legislative director for Compassionate Oregon has been working with a work group initiated by Senator Prozanski, to develop legislative concepts for 2027 that should address many issues still facing patients and substantive changes to the cannabis sector writ large. We are hopeful that these concepts are forward looking and able to develop needed funding for these changes. Stay tuned.

Compassionate Oregon, after 5 years and 3 sessions, was successful in getting Oregon’s version of Ryan’s Law through the legislature and signed by the governor. As of June 1, hospice and palliative care organizations and residential care facilities must permit the use of cannabis for OMMP patients. The legislation, House Bill 4142, also requires educational training for direct care staff on the endocannabinoid system, and delivery and dosing protocol.

Thieves legislation also added the need for hospice or palliative care to the list of debilitating conditions.
