The strength of a small group lies in its ability to pivot and adapt. Today was one of those days when every member becomes essential........and the day isn't over yet.
First, we provided a motorcycle es**rt from Black Hills Harley Davidson in Rapid City to Black Hills National Cemetery where we stood a flag line at the Rotunda for Navy Veteran Matthew Kennedy. He was only 43 and from Mitchell, SD. We then es**rted Kayla, her young children and family members back to Post 311 for a nice lunch served by ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary.
At 1430, we joined Riders from Post 311 (Piedmont) and Riders from Post 164 (Spearfish) to honor Joseph A. Carlin in a flag line. Mr. Carlin was also a US Navy Veteran. A lot of friends and family were there to pay their last respects.
A third group of Riders from Post 33 conducted our monthly visit at the Ft. Meade VA to visit Veterans residing in Long Term Care, serve snacks and play cards! Those guys and gals really light up with piano music by Roxie and a hot game of Spades or Crazy Eights!
When it comes to serving our Veterans and their family members, the more we can work together, the more more love and respect we can show. Thanks Piedmont Post 311 (again) for the invitation and bringing groups together.
