Sturgis American Legion

Sturgis American Legion Provides a place for member Veterans, Auxiliary, SAL and their guests to enjoy activities and friendship. Hall rentals available too.

The Sturgis Legion was chartered by 70 members in August 1919 and is named for two WWI soldiers from Sturgis, Cpl Harry Neuman & Pvt Byron Wenzel. The Post was located in several places until it purchased the former Hiram Jacobs home in 1940. The structure has been updated from its 1842 configuration, but retains the style and beauty of the historic building. The grounds are spacious and well groo

med with the original front retaining wall, steps and main walk still in great condition. The property and building is considered one of, if not the oldest building in Sturgis.
