🎣 YOUTH FISHING DERBY UPDATE 🐢

NEW DERBY DATE 📅 JULY 11th

This week construction started on Lions Pond for the beautification project. We spoke to the contractor that is doing the work. He stated the project is estimated to take 3 weeks to complete. Construction of the two rock piers requires the water level to be dropped dramatically. Last week the pond was drained to by almost 50%. Construction has begun so please keep kids away from the pond's muddy banks and exposed floor.

Due to the all of this we have postponed the fishing derby to July 11th.

The Sturgis Lions can't wait to see the improvements to Lions Pond!

A new improvement project at Lions Club Pond is expected to make one of Sturgis’ most popular outdoor spaces safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable for anglers and families.

Pretty great day to be a Lion 🦁

Check out the newly installed Little Free Library by the gazebo at Lions Park!! This library was built and stocked by two high school National Honor Society members, Iris Z and Larie C. The donation of this library is the perfect addition to Lions Park!

📚 And remember... if you take a book, leave a book so the magic of sharing and reading can continue on! 📚

🦁 SERVICE PROJECT COMPLETED 🦁

During last night's meeting our Sturgis Lions Club put together cancer care tote bags for child cancer patients in Rapid City. Each bag contains a fuzzy blanket, beanie, lotion and trinkets for entertainment.

Today Lion Tim delivered the bags to Rapid City Monument Hospital Cancer Center.

SERVICE PROJECT IN THE WORKS

Two Sturgis Brown High School students are teaming with Sturgis Lions Club to place a Little Free Library in Lions Park.

Larie and Iris are National Honor Society members that have chosen The Little Free Library as their community service project. The girls gave a presentation to Sturgis Lions Club advising of their plan to stock the library and maintain it.

Larie and Iris will have book donation boxes located at Sturgis Brown High School and Sturgis Community Center.

We are proud to partner with this project! Watch for coming updates when this awesome Little Free Library is installed at Lions Park!

Sturgis Lions Club South Dakota Monthly Meeting

At tonight's meeting we had the pleasure of welcoming a few members of the Rushmore Lions Club from Rapid City. They shared how they support Black Hills Works with their Pancake Feed. Typically Rushmore Lions are able to donate approximately $5000 to Black Hills Works.
