St Joseph County, Michigan (Sturgis, White Pigeon, Three Rivers, Centerville, Mendon, Colon, Burr Oak, Nottawa)
Any member may nominate a charity for consideration, but this must be done 1 month (30 days) prior to the meeting, either online or by emailing the downloadable form in order to confirm charity eligibility. Three weeks from the date of the event, a voting form will be sent to all members with the list of eligible charities. Members will be asked to rank their top 3 choices. The charities that receive the top 3 totals in points will be contacted and asked to send a representative to the member event. Charity representatives will be asked to give a 5 minute (no technology) overview of the mission of the charity and how they would use the funds. Members will vote for the one charity that they would like to see receive the funds. Votes will be tabulated at the meeting and the winner announced that night. Members must be present to vote. Members who did not vote for the selected organization agree to make their donation regardless. Members can, of course, feel free to donate their money or time privately to the other two charities if they wish. If you are unable to attend please give your $100 check to a member to deliver on your behalf. Members will receive a tax receipt directly from the charity. A charity not selected at one meeting is eligible to present again at a subsequent meeting. A recipient charity is not eligible for future consideration for the next two years. The winning charity must agree to NOT use our Members’ names for future solicitations or otherwise use their personal information. If the charity/non-profit/worthy cause does not adhere to these conditions, they will be removed from any future consideration. Our events (held at a central location) are 45 minutes social and 30-40 minutes business. From 5:30 to 6:15 pm members register and socialize while enjoying refreshments. At 6:15, the business session to determine the charity begins.
