Sturgis Make it Home

Directions

Sturgis Make it Home We accept donated household items for re-distribution to our neighbors that have experienced a life setback and need help to get a fresh restart.

This is a free ministry to help our community members that have suffered a major life event and need to start over (divorce, fire, flood, homelessness) or those just getting started in their own home. It is completely run by volunteers and community donations of household items. We accept donations of Clean, Gently used, Stain and Smoke Free items and will repurpose them to someone that needs a little boost up. It is NOT a free store for everyone in the community...we were formed to fill a VERY SPECIFIC NEED in the community. We accept donations of Clean, Gently Used, Stain and Smokefree household items. Winter hours are by appointment. If you have a donation and would like to schedule a drop off, please call us and we will be happy to set up a time to meet at the center. (Please see our list of items accepted in the Featured section on this page...sorry we can not take anyting electrical or things that are not deemed "essential" or do not meet our gently used criteria as we do not have space) FOR APPOINTMENT CALL 269.257.0030

We distribute items to those WITH A REFERRAL by Appointment (If you need help getting a referral we can point you in the right direction)

REFERRING ORGANIZATIONS - IF YOU NEED A REFERRAL FORM IT CAN BE FOUND IN OUR FEATURED SECTION.

Good morning friends. In order to help our neighbors as completely as we would like- we find it necessary to ask for specific donations. If you have extra in your closet/cupboard or would like to purchase from our Walmart wishlist that would be great. Walmart will ship direct to me. If you have personal donation we will be open on Saturday Oct 3 10 to noon. Or comment on this post and we can meet up before then. Please remember- Gently used.

We need:

Pots and pans
Bath towels, washcloths, hand towels
Shower curtains
Silverware

The pots and pans are most critical need, but we are low on all the others as well.

Reminder that we will not have a regular donation event in September….but need does not take the Holidays off. So if you have items from our list of essential items to donate, please give us a call.

Most needed items…pots and pans. There is a set on our Walmart wishlist for less than $20. And B & G discount has a set for $20 that I am sure would be discounted more if you tell them what they are for.

Link to Walmart wishlist is in the comments of this post.

Just a reminder that the first Saturday of September is Labor Day weekend. So we will not be open for donations. Our next open donation day is October 3.

IF you have a larger donation that you can’t hang on to until October, please call us at 269.257.0030 and we will make an arrangement to meet you at the center for exchange.

Thank you for all your support. We appreciate you.

God Bless America and the people that work hard to make it great!

I am making a new post because some things needed updated. This is where you can find information you may be seeking. Included is a Referral form that you can print and have filled out by referring agency, some basic information about Sturgis Make it Home, and a document - Where do I take my stuff - that will point you in a direction for your donations. I also have a pdf version of the referral form that referring agencies can download and fill out online and then email to us - please email us and we can email the document to you. (facebook isn't friendly to those kind of things) Thank you.

UPDATE- Walmart no longer notifies me that someone has purchased an item from the list. I just had an order show up unexpected. Please comment below if you have ordered so I know to watch for it. 🤷‍♀️ Thank you

Most needed items: We could really use pillows- there is a 2 pack on the Walmart list for less than $7. But we could also use pots and pans and silverware. (Both also fairly cheap on the wishlist)
If you would like to purchase the link is below.

But if you have any of these items at home to donate please comment and we will be in touch to set up a delivery.

Please keep in mind that for sanitary reasons we need the pillows to be unstained and like new condition. The kitchen items can be used but should be in gently used condition.

Thank you for considering our ministry and helping your neighbors in need of a fresh start. We appreciate you.
