The City of Sturgis notified the developer in November that they no longer were in need of their services. Yet, The City failed to inform the citizens of Sturgis with this information. Again, the lack of timely transparency related to this park is alarming.

The developer, Vanocker Development, says all the plans for the construction were in place, but in November of last year, they received a letter from the City of Sturgis that put the project in question.

I have complaints on how the Richards’ land separation occured. Where was citizen involvement in this land separation agreement? Why was there no timely media release for citizens to voice their opinion on this separation? Where was the transparency related to park developments? Where is the money that I helped raise? When is The City of Sturgis going to replace the $ that they wasted for design development? Where is the promised BLM land access for 🚴🏼 expansion to take place?

The days of the Sturgis City Council making decisions that will affect citizens for generations to come with little citizen involvement needs to come to an end! There is still time to fight this decision! In my opinion, we need a change in leadership, and focus for our community. Please join me at the next Sturgis City Council meeting. This is how the Sturgis City Council split the Richards’ property. Property that was purchased without a citizen wide vote, but with the action by this same council that the park would be built on this property. Compare the lot lines with the previously released draft drawings for the park.

Poor leaders sign poor sales agreements. Also, notice that the wording says “May include”. There was never any guarantee that the park was going to be built on the Richards’ property. Regardless of how the purchase of the property was sold to the citizens.

Sadly, Sturgis still is without a splash pad. Yet, since this picture was originally made. Other surrounding communities have built their own splash pads.

False, The City of Sturgis has not put the brakes on the adventure park project. They are just requesting a new concept design plan from the developer. The park is still moving forward. Receiving media attention is great….until they get the information wrong.

Let’s discuss parking 🚘 The current proposals do not offer enough parking, nor parking options for RV’s. Marked in red are the developer’s proposed housing lots. Removing these housing lots would allow for more parking, and park expansion.
