Proceeds to benefit the Sturgis Police Department TRT (Swat) Equipment Needs. 👮‍♂️🚔👮With increased drug trafficking and crime, along with local elected officials not properly funding our law enforcement, its up to the Sturgis community to help raise funds to keep us and them safe. Chief Geody VanDewater and his officers are dedicated to the Sturgis community and have been doing the best with what they have. 1. Show your support and EAT MORE SPAGHETTI! 🍝🇺🇸❤️ 2. Vote Out the current Sturgis City Council who wont properly fund the Sturgis PD! ✅

I was fortunate to meet up with a former Meade County Lawman this week! Merlin Ehlers stopped by to say hi and share some great stories!

After serving in the United States Air Force, Merlin started his LE career in 1958 with the Sturgis Police Department. In 1968 he went to work for the Meade County Sheriff’s Office where he joined Sheriff John Egger as his Chief Deputy. Merlin retired in 1996. Merlin is now 88 years old full of energy! He’s had a awesome career and did great things for Meade County!

Great visiting with Pat West for Meade County Sheriff we learned his background, why he wants to be Meade County Sheriff and his plan for law enforcement going forward. As a graduate of the FBI academy, retired SSA for the DCI, and leader of multiple task forces, etc.; he has the skill set and frankly the “Cojones” to address the escalating area crime, drug issues and lack of respect for law enforcement. The Meade county commissioners and City Council control the purse strings of law enforcement and by paying them $19/hour obviously, do not respect what they do.
