BIG NEWS!!!!!!

Last October, when funding for Sturgis home-delivered meals was lost, we didn't know exactly what the months ahead would look like.

But we knew one thing pretty quickly:

Sturgis showed up. ❤️

Our community stepped in to make sure our local seniors didn't lose access to the meals they depended on. Individuals donated. Businesses and organizations helped. Volunteers kept showing up. And because of that support, the wheels never stopped turning.

For nearly a year, our community helped us bridge a gap that could have meant fewer meals and fewer people served.

Today, we're incredibly excited to share that funding for our Sturgis home-delivered meal program has been restored. 🎉

But before we talk about what comes next, we need to say this:

Thank you, Sturgis.

When we needed you, you showed up for us.

More importantly, you showed up for your neighbors. 🛞❤️

Tomorrow our summer volunteer crew goes back to school!

While I know our participants will miss seeing them deliver and serve meals, I also know the kitchen staff is looking forward to a quieter more efficient work environment 😂😭

This month, Northern Hills Meals on Wheels was honored to receive $1,032.82 in memorial donations in memory of William “Bill” Pullman, one of our Belle Fourche participants who passed away last summer.

Bill spent much of his life farming and ranching near Onida, South Dakota, where he and his family built a life rooted in hard work, community, and service.

Following his passing, Bill's family chose Northern Hills Meals on Wheels as one of the organizations to receive memorial gifts in his honor. Together, those gifts totaled an incredible $1,032.82.

We are incredibly grateful to the Pullman family and to everyone who donated in Bill's memory. These funds will directly support our work serving older adults throughout the Northern Hills.

It was a privilege to have Bill as part of our Meals on Wheels program, and we are honored that his family chose to support the program in his memory. ❤️

Thank you for helping Bill's generosity continue to make a difference in the community.

📣 MENU CHANGE FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 25!

Apparently our orange chicken decided it was not coming to work this week. 😂 Unfortunately, it did not arrive on this morning’s truck, so we’re doing a little menu shuffle!

We’ll be serving Ham Salad, Potato Salad, and Mandarin Oranges.

🍊 THURSDAY, AUGUST 27
The Orange Chicken & Rice meal will move to Thursday instead.

We apologize for the last-minute switch and appreciate everyone rolling with us! Sometimes even lunch plans have to be flexible. ❤️
