First Responders and investigators are working the scene of a single-engine, single wing plane that crash-landed in a cornfield north of Hwy. CC between North Angell School and Swartz roads.

Ameren Missouri has said they do not yet have a timeline for full restoration of the Hallsville-area's power and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Initial reports indicate the pilot suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

📣 Important Reminder About Pool Regulations

As the number of swimming pools in Sturgeon continues to grow, we want to remind both new and longtime residents about our existing swimming pool ordinance, which has been in effect since 1990. These regulations are in place to ensure safety, code compliance, and neighborhood standards.

📘 Key Points to Know:
✅ Permits are required before building, installing, enlarging, or altering a pool.
✅ Pools over 24 inches deep or 250 sq ft in surface area must meet city code—even if private.
✅ All plans must be approved by the City and any other relevant authorities before construction begins.
✅ Pools must be set back at least 6 ft from side/rear property lines and 10 ft from street property lines.
✅ Pools must have an adequate safety barrier (minimum 4 ft tall, with self-latching gates) to keep small children safe.
✅ No exposed electrical wires within 20 ft of any pool.
✅ Proper water treatment, drainage, and safety equipment is required.

Failure to follow these codes is a violation of City Ordinance 488, which is subject to fines or penalties.

📌 These rules are not new—they’ve been part of Sturgeon’s Building Regulations Chapter 500 for over 30 years. If you're unsure whether your pool is compliant, or if you're planning a new installation, please contact City Hall before starting your project.

A great idea was shared with us and we're calling on all of you to help us! If you have toys in your house that are no longer in use or that need a new home, bring them to us now instead of waiting until after Christmas! As we all know, money gets tight for a lot of families during the holiday season. After paying monthly expenses such as utility bills, groceries, housing and transportation, there may not be money leftover for parents to buy their littles ones any Christmas gifts. Help us make a difference by donating toys to our Free Store for the Holiday Season!

The Sturgeon Food Pantry store is open on the first and third Saturdays of every month. We accept donations on these days as well. To arrange a special drop off of donations, please message us!
