Pickup and Delivery Guidelines
Door County Habitat for Humanity Restore
410 North 14th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay
The Habitat for Humanity Restore appreciates all donations and purchases and values our customers. For those who are unable to transport items, we offer the assistance of our delivery team with service for all of mainland Door County. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide service to Washington Island.
Our 16 ft. box truck staffed by volunteers will deliver purchased items or pick up donations. This service is offset by a small fee to cover fuel and vehicle maintenance. Pickups in the City of Sturgeon Bay are $30. Pickups elsewhere in Door County are $40. Deliveries are $30 in Sturgeon Bay and $45 elsewhere, paid in advance. Payment can be made in advance at the Restore or directly to the driver. Acceptable payment methods are cash, check, debit, or credit card.
Deliveries:
For all items that are purchased and need to be delivered, please check the dimensions of the item(s) and verify that it will fit through a doorway at your home or business. This is especially important for appliances and furniture. Doorways need to be accessible by structurally safe steps or a ramp. Deliveries will only be made to first floor areas or garages.
Donation Pickups:
For all donation pickups, please verify that items will fit through a doorway on the ground floor. If possible, donated items should be staged in a garage for loading. If you are unable to get donations to a garage, the volunteer staff will try and accommodate removal – with a few guidelines and exceptions:
o Donated items need to be approved by the Restore Manager in advance of being picked up. Pictures should be emailed to the store at [email protected].
o Items may be denied upon inspection by the driver, based on cleanliness, odor, or general condition.
o No large appliances will be removed from basements or upper floors.
o Bedroom sets should have the bedding and mattresses removed. We will remove headboards, footboards, and frames.
o Light fixtures should be disconnected from household wiring.
o Dishwashers need to be removed from cabinetry.
o Plumbing connections should be removed from refrigerators, washers, and sinks.
o LP and natural gas connections must be removed.
Our volunteers will try to accommodate your circumstances and assist with donation removals. However, the final decision will be made by the driver on the ability to safely remove items.
Scheduling:
To schedule a delivery or pickup, contact the Restore at (920) 743-2869 (ext. 104), for available dates. Pickups are made on Wednesdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Appointment times cannot be provided, as the driver plans his route around the Door Peninsula as efficiently as possible. You will receive a call from the driver approximately 30 minutes prior to arrival. Typically, Northern Door locations are in the morning and Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay are in the afternoon.
