The Community's Garden

The Community's Garden We are so excited about this unique project.

Door County has a wonderful opportunity to create a garden for our community that will provide a laboratory for learning about how what we eat is directly related to how we feel, and how sunshine, rain, wind, soil, water and wildlife work together to prov There are, of course, many cities that have traditional community recreational areas, and numerous school campuses that have horticulture classe

s and nutrition classes, but what makes The Community's Garden unique is that all of these entities will be collaborating at one location under one mission -- the result will be powerful.

Good day community gardeners. I’m looking for some help and creating 6” newspaper transplant pots similar to these

We have basil and cilantro in the school greenhouse that needs transplanting within the next two weeks

Awesome highlight of our community partnerships - intertwining eaters of all ages

Once upon a time…well, this past winter actually…Carmen Schroeder was planning the upcoming growing season for her plot at The Community’s Garden. She wondered what she could do with all of the leftover tomato seeds from the previous growing season.
Read our latest blog to learn more about how these special tomatoes traveled from the residents of the Skilled Nursing facility, to friends and relatives, to The Community’s Garden, into the kitchen of Sturgeon Bay School District and into the meals of the Sturgeon Bay community’s children. https://www.dcmedical.org/blog/december-2022/the-story-of-the-traveling-tomatoes

This year we have available plots for rent. As of today, there are 8 available plots. Tell your friends and help us share the word! If there are open plots its a headache for garden organizers as we have to battle the growth of unwanted garden plants (aka weeds) instead of having a person growing food for their use. For more information fill out our google form and one of us will get back to you

Welcome, complete this form so we can reserve a garden plot for you. Those who are new to gardening with us, this does not imply that you will for sure have a plot but most years we have plenty of space.
