FULL HANDS. FULL HEARTS. ❤️

As our trainees close out the school year, the intense rains brought a very real worry: how to keep food on the table.

Thanks to RIPPLEA and our generous donors, that worry was eased with a much-needed supply of rice. 🌾

Today, bags of rice were carefully measured, cup by cup, and distributed to every trainee present at the skills training center. What followed was pure joy—clapping, dancing, and heartfelt gratitude.

This was more than a rice distribution. It was a moment of celebration as our trainees close one chapter of learning and growth, leaving with full hands, full hearts, and hope for what comes next.

Every rainy season brings added challenges for families in hard-to-reach rural communities. When access to food is limited, children face an even greater risk of malnutrition.

Among the many young women and girls whose lives are being transformed through your generosity, we'd love to introduce you to Theresa Mulai.

At just 14 years old, Theresa is the youngest trainee at our Skills Training Center.

She grew up in a rural village and never had the opportunity to attend school. After being sent away from home, she now lives with a relative in Bo City. As the daughter of a single mother struggling to provide, Theresa was seen as one more mouth to feed—and, sadly, became vulnerable to abuse.

Like so many of the young women we serve, Theresa is a survivor. She has endured more than any child ever should.

Today, however, her story is being rewritten.

At the center, Theresa is learning tailoring and discovering a passion for gara tie-dyeing. We've watched her grow from carefully mixing colors and creating intricate patterns to transforming ordinary fabric into beautiful garments—like the dress she's proudly wearing today.

Every piece she creates is more than fabric.

It is healing.

It is confidence.

It is hope.

For Theresa and every survivor who walks through our doors, this training center is more than a classroom. It is a safe place to heal, learn valuable skills, and begin building a future filled with dignity, independence, and opportunity.

This transformation is only possible because of compassionate supporters like you.

Education changes lives—and for these girls, it's opening doors that were once closed.

Many never had the opportunity to attend school because of poverty, discrimination, and harmful social norms that prioritized early marriage and household responsibilities over education. Today, they are learning to read, write, and confidently solve basic arithmetic problems, building skills that create new possibilities for their future.

KUSH is devastating communities across Sierra Leone, with nearly every family feeling the impact of this growing epidemic. That's why Unsilenced Voices partnered with the Kush Recovery and Resilience Project (KRRP) to create a safe, judgment-free space where young people could learn, ask questions, and access life-saving support.

Together, we reached more than 66 women and men, raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, sharing recovery resources, and empowering participants to recognize the warning signs of addiction while supporting those around them. Most importantly, we broke the silence by creating a space where honest conversations could finally happen.

This is only the beginning. We remain committed to working alongside our partners to ensure vulnerable young people have ongoing access to education, support, and a pathway to recovery.

In this class, our trainees are learning how to take accurate measurements while strengthening their literacy and numeracy skills. These foundational lessons are essential for pricing materials correctly, measuring with confidence, and tracking expenses and income.
