Dear Martin County Girls Fastpitch Parents,
Thank you for participating in our 2023 Fall fastpitch season!
As we look forward to our upcoming Spring season, we are writing to inform you about an intriguing opportunity for our softball program. After careful consideration and with great excitement, we have decided to join the Martin County North Little League (MCNLL)!
For those of you not familiar with MCNLL, it is the largest and most successful youth sports program in Martin County with a great reputation for providing a safe environment for their players to learn and develop at any skill level. They are well established and have been highly respected in the community for many years. We are honored to partner with them to provide the same experience for our daughters. As some of you may recall, our current softball program has its roots in the MCNLL program. We only split off in 2009 because International Little League had not yet converted to fast pitch. Otherwise, we never would have left the MCNLL.
This decision was made after thorough discussions aimed at providing our young players with the best possible softball experience. By joining forces with MCNLL, our league will benefit from a proven infrastructure, expanded resources, and a broader community of players, coaches, and families. This partnership will not only strengthen our softball program but also create many opportunities for growing our player pool, developing our players through a more structured coaching agenda, and creating friendly competition through intra- and interleague play.
We will continue to work closely with MCNLL's Board of Directors to ensure a smooth transition and integrate our softball league seamlessly. We are confident that this partnership will lead to a stronger, more vibrant program for all our players. Although you will notice constructive changes to the league, we will maintain our autonomy. Our home will continue to be Justin Wilson Park and we will create our own schedules. Schedules will remain fairly consistent with how they are now (i.e. one practice and one game per week) except some changes may need to be made to accommodate an increase in enrollment numbers. Joining MCNLL, also provides us the opportunity to bolster our T-ball division and give our youngest players appropriate skill level instruction and start them with the right foundation.
With that said, registration for the 2024 Spring season opens on November 1st!! Registration can be completed at www.mcnll.com by clicking the Register button in the upper right. Those who register early will receive a discount on their registration fees!
We look forward to seeing all our returning players and families as well as many new faces, so please spread the word! Also, with the expansion of our league, we will be needing more coaches and volunteers. Please reach out if you are interested.
We would like to thank MCNLL for being so supportive of girls softball and welcoming us into their program. We believe that this is the start of a great partnership and imperative for the future success of girls softball in Martin County.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Kelly Borden at [email protected] or Jenny Gladding at [email protected]. For specific questions about MCNLL, please contact Mark Rodgers at [email protected].
