Yesterday our South Florida Surface Design group stepped into a world where craftsmanship takes center stage—every stitch, every embellishment, every layer created by hand.

To witness this level of detail up close is more than inspiration… it’s a reminder.

A reminder that slow processes matter.
That the human hand carries knowledge, history, and intention.
That what we create—quietly, patiently—has value beyond trend.

We left inspired, connected, and even more committed to honoring the work.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting and promoting the arts in our community—and in collaboration with the five local high school visual arts departments—MartinArts is seeking local artists to lead a one-day, high school–level, multi-media arts workshop for small groups of 15–20 students.
The workshop will be held on Friday, April 17 from approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Memorial Park and the Court House Cultural Center in downtown Stuart. (**If you previously submitted a proposal, please reply to this email to confirm your availability on this date.)
We are currently seeking instructors in the following mediums (and are open to additional ideas): ceramics, sculpture, watercolor, drawing (pencil or pen/ink), assemblage/collage, acrylic or oil painting, textiles, pastels, and photography.
Selected instructors will receive a $300 stipend for their time and lesson preparation. All student supplies will be provided at no cost.
To be considered, please submit:
A brief description of the lesson(s) you propose to teach
A suggested materials list, be specific if possible
Any additional requirements needed to successfully conduct your workshop

Only 4 people have preregistered for this month's Meeting
Activity so far- Please pre-register before Thursday so I know if I need to go get propane this week. I"m teaching at the Morakami on Saturday so I need to go pick things up on Thursday if we are going to do this. https://www.southfloridasurfacedesign.org/events-and-exhibits

DOLCE & GABANA EXHIBITION

Who is coming to the Dolce & Gabana Exhibition?

I have finally been contacted by The Museum and they are able to provide us a private guided tour of From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce&Gabbana Exhibition.

The tour guide is available for our preferred date and time of 3/16/26 at 12:00PM. (so we might need to adjust the schedule)

The private guided tour experience will entail a comprehensive tour of each gallery space with an experienced guide who will be able to share a more in-depth presentation of the Exhibition, including some behind-the-scenes facts and information that will be both entertaining and enlightening.

The tour will last approximately 1 hour and the cost is $253 inclusive of taxes and fees and can accommodate up to 12 guests - so that would be about $22 additional and we would need to prepay so I can send payment. Tickets for the event can be purchased online.

💛 Grateful for Our Creative Community 💛

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the SFSDA Trunk Show this weekend. Your presence, your purchases, and your donations to our Scholarship Fund truly matter. Because of you, we’re able to continue supporting artists and nurturing the next generation of surface design creatives.

It was wonderful to see familiar faces, meet new friends, and share the incredible work of our talented members. Events like this remind us why community is everything.

If you’ve been thinking about becoming more involved, we would love to welcome you as a member. SFSDA is growing, and there is a place for you here.
