To fill it. With laughter. With belonging. With girls who walk in a little unsure and leave saying, “Look what I can do!” 🥹

If you’re new here, at Braids And Business Education (B.A.B.E.), we bring together hands on braiding, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and mentorship. Our youth learn to care for their hair, connect with their culture, recognize the value of their creativity and turn their skills into opportunities.

And at the heart of it all? Sisterhood. Identity. Community. Confidence. A safe space that feels like home while they learn.

Those mannequin heads, workbooks and B.A.B.E. aprons are only the beginning. The vision comes alive when our youth start talking, braiding, dancing and feeling comfortable enough to be themselves.

A braid becomes a conversation. A conversation becomes a friendship. A skill becomes the start of a business. And a young person begins to imagine a future they can help create. ✨

At Braids And Business Education (B.A.B.E.), our youth practice braiding, explore business ideas, learn pricing and build the confidence to present what they create. We want them to understand the business behind their talent and see ownership as something they can pursue.

And right now, access matters. New federal earnings rules could eventually limit student loan access at some cosmetology programs. For Black youth and other aspiring beauty professionals who depend on financial aid, that could put training further out of reach.

That makes early preparation even more valuable. B.A.B.E. helps youth build practical skills, financial knowledge and relationships with mentors as they explore their next steps in beauty and business. ✨

This opportunity brings together two things at the heart of our mission: building business-minded young leaders and empowering youth through entrepreneurship. Participants will discover how creativity and practical skills can become pathways to earning, saving, growing—and ultimately, ownership. 💡💰

🎶Into the thick of it!! 🙌🏾😂 No music. No voiceover. Just our youth asking questions, learning, problem-solving and using their hands.

Detangling.
Shampooing.
Conditioning.
Sectioning.
Blow drying.
Communicating with their client.
Working together to get the job done.

Yes, they’re learning hair care but listen closer.
They’re learning WHY‼️Even if you need a license to offer certain services to clients, we still believe our youth should understand how the whole process works and WHY it matters.

Because exposure creates possibilities.
Skills → Knowledge → Innovation → Ownership → Income. 💛
