Martin County Youth Anglers

Do you find video games pointless and shopping malls claustrophobic? Would you rather be out in nature? If so, then come join the Martin County Youth Anglers.

Martin County's newest 4-H club invites you to step outside and into the great outdoors.

The Martin County Youth Anglers offers:

· On-going mentorship for children who want to fish.

· A place for kids to make new friends and fish together.

· The opportunity to practice new skills and enter tournaments.

· A partnership with the Martin County Water Ambassador Program and learning opportunities for keeping our waters clean and safe.

· After school activities to keep kids engaged and out of trouble during high-risk hours, 3:30-6pm.

· Fishing teaches kids patience, perseverance and how to use time in a meaningful way. It teaches them to appreciate nature and the environment.

· Sustainable fishing practices: “Sustainable fishing guarantees there will be populations of ocean and freshwater wildlife for the future. Aquatic environments are home to countless species of fish and invertebrates, most of which are consumed as food. (Others are harvested for economic reasons, such as oysters that produce pearls used in jewelry.) Seafood is respected all over the world, in many diverse cultures, as an important source of protein and healthy fats. For thousands of years, people have fished to feed families and local communities. In order to continue relying on the ocean as an important food source, economists and conservationists say we will need to employ sustainable fishing practices.
