We feel beyond blessed by the incredible outpouring of support from our community!

Earlier this week, we received a VERY generous donation of more than 50 pairs of sneakers from a local community member who recently closed his shoe shop and was looking for a way to give back with his remaining inventory. He thought of our neighbors and chose LAHIA as the beneficiary of this incredible gift.

We are so grateful for his generosity and commitment to helping members of our community who need it most.

LAHIA serves an average of 262 clients each month through our Clothing Pantry. Clients are able to "shop" once a week for basic clothing necessities and may receive up to one pair of shoes each month. 👟

For many of our neighbors, walking long distances in all kinds of weather can quickly wear out a pair of shoes. Having access to quality footwear makes a meaningful difference in their comfort, safety, and daily lives.

We are incredibly grateful for this donation and for community members who continue to support our mission. Thank you for helping us ensure our neighbors have access to the essentials they need.❤️

❤️ We love sharing client updates! ❤️

You may remember Eric, whom we've highlighted before. We're happy to report that things continue to look up for him!

When Eric first came to LAHIA, he was navigating a difficult situation. His mom brought him to us for meals, and just three days after becoming a client, he signed up to volunteer. From that moment on, he became a familiar face around LAHIA.

As he worked toward stability, Eric picked up jobs through PaceSetters and Labor Finders while searching for something more permanent. No matter what his work schedule looked like, you could always count on finding him on dish duty every Monday evening, giving back to us while working hard to improve his own circumstances. 🫧

Recently, Eric stopped by to share some exciting news. He is still employed at one of our local restaurants, has now been there for over a year, and through hard work, determination, and saving every dollar he could, he purchased his very own trailer! 🏡

When one of our incredible volunteers heard what Eric has been up to, she stepped in as his very own fairy godmother and blessed him with household essentials to help him get settled into his new home. ✨

Stories like Eric's remind us that with perseverance, opportunity, and a supportive community, amazing things can happen no matter the challenges. We couldn't be more proud of him and all that he has accomplished in such a short amount of time.

Meet our Clienteer and now-housed friend, Yepes! ❤️

Yepes first came to LAHIA less than two years ago. At the time, he was unhoused, living in his van, and working a part-time job. In less than a year, he secured full-time employment and was able to save enough money to purchase a trailer, giving him a more stable place to call home.

Not long after, Yepes shared that he was looking for a roommate to help with lot expenses. That opportunity eventually helped another LAHIA client move off the streets and into stable housing as well.

Yepes is not only a regular client at LAHIA, but also a dedicated Clienteer who spent more than a year helping our dishwashing team. Recently, a generous anonymous donor chose to bless some of our hardworking clients. When asked how he could be helped, Yepes initially struggled to think of anything because he already felt so fortunate. After some thought, he requested an e-bike as his gift.

Here he is with his new e-bike, grateful and excited that someone thought of him as deserving of such kindness.

Yepes' journey is a reminder that hard work, determination, and community support can truly change lives. His story is just one of many that make us proud to do what we do.

Today, they celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary, and thanks to Dennis and Brian, our clients and volunteers had the opportunity to celebrate this incredible milestone with them.

A heartfelt thank you to Brian and Dennis for sponsoring this morning's breakfast in honor of Priscilla and John. Your generosity helped make the celebration even more special with a delicious breakfast featuring fresh fruit, chicken and waffles, and tater tots!

Hide your dishes and organize your closets...it's time to highlight our June volunteer—one of our newer, yet incredibly mighty, volunteers, Marsha! ❤️

There isn't a position around here that scares her. Most days, you'll find her hard at work in our Clothing Pantry, whether she's organizing donations behind the scenes, helping serve our clients during pantry hours, or tackling dishes alongside another amazing volunteer, Pat. Together, they're our Women Wednesday Powerhouses! 💪✨

Since joining us in November as a fill-in volunteer, Marsha quickly became one of those volunteers we could count on for just about anything. She jumped in wherever help was needed, never shying away from a new task or an unfamiliar role.

No task is too big, no shift is too early, and no challenge is too much...even on one foot! Earlier this year, she broke her foot and spent weeks in a boot. Most people would have taken that as a sign to slow down, but not Marsha. 🤦🏻‍♀️

After repeatedly catching her trying to make her way into the dish room on one foot, we finally had to relocate her to volunteer sign-in for her own safety. Besides, her kids love to call her a "boomer," so we figured putting her behind a computer would really put that title to the test.

Her biggest concern wasn't her foot—it was making sure no one took her dishwashing spot! She repeatedly reminded our Volunteer Coordinator that as soon as that boot came off, she'd be right back beside Pat on Wednesday mornings.

And true to her word, that's exactly what she did, headed straight to the dish room to reclaim her spot next to Pat. 😂❤️

You can usually hear Marsha before you see her! Her excitement for volunteering carries throughout the building, and her enthusiasm is contagious. She shows up with a smile and a positive attitude every time she walks through our doors.

Marsha, thank you for your willingness to serve, your incredible energy, and the heart you bring to LAHIA each week. We are so grateful to have you as part of our volunteer family and can't wait to see all the lives you'll continue to impact.
