Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is hosting “The Wide Blue Sky”, an exhibit celebrating the works and adventures of the late Chester Rideout. Chet contracted ALS in early 2023 and died on June 12, 2023, one day after his 57th wedding anniversary. The exhibit features a collection of photographs from his many adventures and will be on display in the Gallery at Kettle Creek from February 6th through February 29th.
Artist Statement:
"My first love in college was biology, and for my doctoral study, I radio-tracked mountain goats in Montana. During my teaching, both high school and college, I always found time for backpacking, downhill skiing, ski touring, and canoeing on lakes and rivers in Colorado with my wife, kids, and friends. During these activities, I also spent a lot of time with another hobby, nature photography."
For more information, call the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center at (570) 629-3061, Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and some Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. For more information on other programs, visit their website at www.mcconservation.org.
