Developmental Education Services of Monroe County Inc. We meet the Human Service needs of the community and provide a continuum of educational, therapeutic and referral services for our clients.

DES provides therapeutic, educational and vocational programs to meet the needs of adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. DES has been a county leader in several programs. DES Community Partners in Recycling is a community-based employment program based out of the Stroudsburg facility, employing 12 individuals with disabilities. DES was the first agency in Monroe County to provide early intervention programs, the first to develop a completely community-based vocational training and employment program, and currently is the largest provider in Monroe County of adult training services.

🕊️ It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of one of our beloved individuals, Walter. ❤️

Walter had a special way of bringing joy to those around him. Through his jokes, laughter, and love of dancing, he brought smiles to so many faces and filled our days with moments we will always cherish.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the joy he brought into our lives. Walter will be deeply missed by DES, and his memory will live on through every laugh, every smile, and every moment of happiness he shared with us.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Walter’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him during this difficult time. ❤️

Rest peacefully, Walter. Thank you for the laughter, the dances, and the beautiful memories. You will never be forgotten.🕊️

Today, DES is celebrating a very special milestone Josette’s 40th Anniversary with the company!❤️

For four decades, Josette has dedicated her time, knowledge, heart, and passion to the individuals we support and to DES. Her years of experience and guidance have made such a lasting impact, and we truly appreciate everything she has done throughout her incredible 40 years of service.

Today, we were so happy to celebrate our “Mama Bear of the Floor”!🐻❤️ Josette is always there to lend a helping hand, share her knowledge, guide her coworkers, and make sure everyone is taken care of. Her presence, wisdom, and dedication are a huge part of what makes our team so special.

We are excited to celebrate Josh on securing a new job!👏🍔

Josh has been participating in DES Pre-Vocational Services through our SOAR program, where he has had opportunities to gain valuable, hands-on experience while working toward his employment goals.

Through Pre-Vocational Services, individuals can participate in activities such as volunteering, exploring different work environments, practicing workplace skills, and completing hands-on tasks that help build confidence, independence, communication, responsibility, and other skills needed for successful employment.

Our SOAR program focuses on providing meaningful experiences that help individuals discover their strengths, develop employment skills, and prepare for future opportunities in their communities.

Josh’s hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn have helped him take an exciting step toward his employment goals. We are so proud of the progress he has made! 💙
