Learning about our streams, one fish at a time! 🐟💧
Our Watershed Specialist and Head Resource Conservation Specialist joined science students from Northampton Community College for a hands-on learning experience with electrofishing!

So, what is electrofishing?
It's a scientific technique that helps biologists learn more about the fish living in our local streams. It allows professionals to gently collect, identify, and measure them before returning them to the water.

The goal is to learn, protect, and conserve. When performed properly by trained professionals, electrofishing is designed to minimize harm to fish while giving scientists valuable information about the health of our waterways and the life they support.

Experiences like this help the next generation of scientists understand the important connection between healthy streams, thriving aquatic life, and strong communities.

At Monroe County Conservation District, we are proud to support hands-on education and share the knowledge that help us care for natural resources.
A big thank you to the students from Northampton Community College for joining us in the field and bringing their curiosity and enthusiasm!

📣 Help shape the future of Transportation in Monroe County Pennsylvania!

Monroe County is currently participating in the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) update, in collaboration with NEPA MPO and our partner counties: Carbon, Pike, and Schuylkill Counties.
As part of this process, we are asking residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to share their local knowledge and transportation concerns through a survey. This allows you to place points on a map through Monroe County and the greater MPO region to identify:

🚦 Traffic Safety Concerns
🚗 Traffic & Congestion Concerns
🛣 Roadway Condition Issues
🚲 Bicycle & Pedestrian Concerns
🚌 Public Transit Needs
🚚 Freight & Truck Concerns
💡 Other Concerns & Emerging Issues

You can select from specific sub-categories or provide your own details about a transportation issue. You can also like existing concerns and add comments to points submitted by others... YOUR INPUT MATTERS!
The information collected through this survey will help identify transportation needs and priorities.

Please take a few minutes to participate and make your voice heard!
Share this survey with your neighbors, colleagues, fiends, and community networks... Thank you for taking the time to participate and help shape the future of transportation in our region.
