Who is Steve Massey? Although this is not about me, I’m just keeping this beginning question for recognition purposes.
Four weeks ago I was able to speak to the Stroud City Council. I spoke about trying to make our community better. I feel we can always improve on all of our aspects of life and our community is no different.
Some caring citizens have committed to helping this cause. As a result we have formed a group called the “Stroud Proud Project”. This group has a page. Please visit it.
Our objective is to “assist” the City in keeping our community clean. As I stated we want to “assist” the City, not take its responsibility in enforcing the codes of our community. That is not our responsibility. Our responsibility is to maintain our property. We would like our town to be appealing to those who may pass through and think “this is a great little town. I might like to visit here again.” Or perhaps “I think this looks like a town I would like to live in.”
That’s where we come in. Do you have an elderly neighbor that needs more than what you can assist them with? Do you have a disabled neighbor? We have people willing to help.
We would like to help those in need with removal of trash, debris old refrigerators, couches, tires, cars, etc. …..
Did you know the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
would love to take your old car, truck, motorcycle, boat, snowmobile, trailer or recreational vehicle and give you a tax write off for doing it? They will come to your house to pick it up.
For more information, visit the American Cancer Society.
Do you own a business? Are you a citizen wanting Stroud to become a vibrant rural community? Here’s what’s happening.
The state tourism department has a Route 66 beautification project with LARGE amounts of grants being awarded. Wellston just received a grant large enough to build a water park. All 11 cities on Route 66 are eligible.
It would be a crime for Stroud not to receive our share and more. Business owners how would you like a neon sign in front of your business?
Go to the Rt 66 grant meeting on April 25, at 5:00 at the Chamber office. Share your ideas. If you know how to write grant please attend.
Come and help!!
Attend City Council meetings to get first hand information and visit with your council person.
Instead of complaining to Council members, visit with them. You never know when you may put a bug in their ear and they will move your idea to fruition.
We want our town to be the “crossroad of America.” Instead of motorists just stopping at the Rt66 and Rt 99 stop light and driving on , they will pull into your business, or your restaurant , OR maybe stop at a fabulous new facility that was built with grant money that
”you” helped develop.
Get involved. We want a better town for our children and grandchildren. ********Help us meet tomorrow!!
Get involved. Come to our Stroud Proud Project meeting April 22, at 6:00 at the Chamber Office. Find out how we all can join together.
