Disabled U.S. Navy Veteran Dawn Lipscomb is preparing for surgery related to an injury she sustained on active duty. While she recovers, she plans to stay in her ground-floor basement, where stairs won’t be an option.

The problem was that there wasn’t a working bathroom downstairs. Veteran Housing Solutions was glad to help by adding an ADA walk-in shower and toilet, giving Dawn a safer, more accessible place to recover at home.

We’re honored to support Dawn as she prepares for surgery and wish her a smooth recovery. Because their battle continues. 🇺🇸

This disabled Vietnam Veteran lives with severe mobility challenges and other serious health conditions resulting from his exposure to Agent Orange.

Doing laundry in his basement had become extremely difficult because his medical needs often required immediate access to a bathroom—and there wasn’t one downstairs.

Thanks to the Veteran Housing Solutions Veterans Aging in Place Program, he now has a bathroom in his basement, allowing him to do his laundry more safely, comfortably, and independently.

Sometimes, one home modification can make an enormous difference in a Veteran’s daily life.

🔧 Licensed Plumber Needed to Help Us Serve Veterans 🇺🇸

Veteran Housing Solutions (VHS) is seeking an experienced, licensed plumber willing to partner with our nonprofit on housing rehabilitation projects for Veterans.

We are looking for someone who can:

• Pull the required plumbing permits
• Provide appropriate supervision and oversight
• Review work completed by our skilled volunteers and laborers
• Ensure all plumbing work meets applicable building codes
• Coordinate inspections and approve completed work within the scope of their license

VHS will provide:

• $500 for each permit pulled and project overseen
• Payment for approved continuing education classes
• Payment for required state examinations
• Payment for necessary city registrations and certifications
• Insurance coverage through VHS for all approved projects completed on our behalf

This is not a request to simply use someone’s license. The plumber will have genuine authority and responsibility for supervising the plumbing work, correcting any issues, and ensuring each project is completed safely and properly.

Our volunteers and laborers help us keep project costs manageable so that limited funding can assist more aging, disabled, and formerly homeless Veterans. We need a licensed professional who understands our mission and wants to help us stretch every dollar while maintaining high standards.
