Congratulations to District Council 6 Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer Jim Sherwood on his well-earned retirement!!

After years of dedicated leadership, hard decisions, and unwavering commitment to our members, Jim leaves behind a legacy that has strengthened DC6 across every trade and every local.

From fighting for better contracts to mentoring the next generation of leaders, Jim never backed down from doing what was right for the membership. His leadership helped position District Council 6 for continued growth, unity, and strength.

We were proud to celebrate Jim at his retirement party, surrounded by friends, family, and union brothers and sisters—recognizing not just his career, but the impact he’s had on so many.

Two special guests, State Senator Tom Patton and Judge Betty Sutton, reflected DC6’s continued involvement in the labor movement, including a proclamation honoring Jim’s years of service and support for Judge Sutton.

Thank you, Jim, for your years of service, your leadership, and your dedication to this union.

DC6 Hosts Leaders to Discuss Infrastructure Investment and Union Jobs-

District Council 6 was honored to host Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg at our Toledo Union Hall to discuss infrastructure funding that has been frozen while tax cuts for the wealthiest among us are being prioritized.

Infrastructure investment means good union jobs, stronger communities, and a future built by skilled union workers.

District Council 6 leadership took decisive action in the Cleveland area when a non-union contractor failed to meet established area standards of pay.
We will not allow undercutting to erode the wages and conditions our members have fought to secure. When a contractor chooses to operate below the standard, we respond with strength, strategy, and unity. Every union craft made the decision to stand together and leave the jobsite — and the message was unmistakable: without fair pay, there is no workforce.
This was not disruption for show; it was disciplined, calculated solidarity. We protect the standard. We defend our trades. And in this region and every region within DC6, respect for the job begins with respecting the rate.
