Empowering and preparing youth for success by providing positive youth development. 4-H creates opportunities for youth to use their skills to influence and impact others by offering targeted youth education programs to address Illinois issues. 4-H is a voluntary, informal education program for young people ages 8-18, as of September 1st of the current 4-H year.
4-H Cloverbuds is a program for younger children who are 5-7 years old.

The weather may try to fool you but summer is over! Shelby started up her school year schedule at the Henderson County Public Library Story Time this morning. The first Tuesday of the month, she and the older kids read a book learn all about something new. Today's theme? Ladybugs 🐞! Did you know that there are about 5,000 types of lady bugs? We do!

Join the Stronghurst Hustlers for our first meeting of the year on Sunday, September 20, from 4:00–5:15 PM at the Stronghurst Senior Center.

Sunflower Showmanship is a partnership between Illinois 4-H, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, and Special Olympics of Illinois. The event provides a supportive and inclusive environment for athletes who may not have considered showing livestock. This was a first at the Illinois State Fair and was held on Saturday, August 15, in the coliseum. Henderson County 4-H would like to send a special shout-out to the Gittings & Gibb families for providing sheep and helping with showmanship. # Dayne, Darrell, & Cooper.

Summer Ag Adventures: Ag Tent at the Illinois State Fair 🎡 🎪

Start your adventure at the Ag Tent, where visitors of all ages can enjoy interactive exhibits, learn more about the crops, livestock, and products that make Illinois a leader in agriculture. Don't forget to grab one a famous Apple Cider Slushies from the Illinois Specialty Growers Association Farm Stand, or purchase Illinois made goods from the Illinois Product Store.

Whether you're learning something new, enjoying local flavors, or supporting exhibitors in the show ring, the Illinois State Fair is a great place to celebrate Illinois agriculture.

Don't forget to bring your canned food donations to the Orr Building at the State Fair.

Henderson County 4-H is proud to name Dr. Jon Schar, DVM, to the 4-H Hall of Fame. Serving Henderson County with his veterinary practice for 39 years & serving as the fair veterinarian. Thank you for your support and dedication to the youth and livestock of Henderson County 4-H.

Dayne Gittings is always there to volunteer for 4-H. He lends a hand to youth, showing/judging livestock, teaching dog obedience, and serving as a club leader. Dayne is very deserving of the 4-H Young Alumni nomination. Thank you, Dayne, for your mentor leadership.
