COOLING CENTER OPENING IN PORTAGE COUNTY OH TUESDAY, JUNE 30, TO THURSDAY, JULY 2, 8AM-8PM AT SHEPHERD'S HOUSE

‼️UPDATE 6/30/26. WE ARE NOW UNDER AN EXTREME HEAT WARNING. ‼️

The US National Weather Service Cleveland OH has issued a HEAT ADVISORY this week for N Ohio, including .

Shepherd's House of Portage County will be opening its doors to people who need shelter from the extreme heat. Temps will be in the 90s with the heat index at 100 or more. The service is free.

Cooling center will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on: Tuesday, June 30; Wednesday, July 1; and Thursday, July 2. Shepherd's House is located at 2645 State Route 59, Ravenna, Ohio.

Shepherd's House is also in need of volunteers during those 3 days. If you are able to help please contact the shelter at 330-235-8600. A Heat Advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when temperatures or heat index values are high enough to pose a risk of heat-related illnesses, but not severe enough to trigger an Extreme Heat Warning. It signals that outdoor activities may be hazardous, particularly during peak heat hours.

What an amazing day on the golf course last weekend! We had perfect weather, lots of prizes, great food, and most of all, 56 awesome golfers helping us to raise money for our organization! Our sole source of funding comes from donors and fundraising, and this was such a fun way to do it! THANK YOU to all who golfed on Saturday! THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped before and during the outing! And THANK YOU to all of the sponsors who supported the day! We cannot thank you enough!!!

On the second Thursday of each month, we host a free community dinner for anyone who is in need of a meal and/or fellowship and company. Doors open at 5:45 PM and dinner is served at 6 PM. Please join us at St. Joan of Arc Church - Streetsboro, Ohio!

Our March meal was sponsored in part by Buckeye Quality Meats. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to them for their continued support of our organization.

Our sole source of funds to help our neighbors is through sponsorship and donations. We greatly appreciate our community support!
