Streator Area GriefShare GriefShare Support Group Videos and other resources provide insights from experts who have made the journey from mourning to joy. The group meets at 6 p.m.

GriefShare is a Christian-based, weekly support group that provides help and encouragement for those who have experienced the loss of a loved-one. The group facilitators are Kevin and Misty Missel. Kevin and Misty are longtime members of Central and credit the GriefShare program with helping them work through their own grief. Kevin was impacted as a teenager when he lost his father in 1994. ent years, Kevin and Misty have experienced the death of a grandmother, two grandfathers, Kevin's mother in 2009 and their 5-year-old son, Lucas, in 2010. Most people find it hard to come to the first GriefShare session, but soon appreciate the support, insight and encouragement they receive throughout the 13 weeks. on Tuesday evenings in the Upper Room of the Ministry Center from Sept. 6, 2011 through Dec. 6, 2011; and again from Jan. 24, 2012 through April 17, 2012. (Follow the GriefShare signs.) Child-care is provided. To register for a new series of GriefShare, call the church office at 815-673-1581. New group members are welcome to join at any time.

Facing grief this holiday season? You are not alone. In fact, Central Church of Christ is planning a gathering for grieving people to talk about what to expect this season and to learn how to deal with the many emotions brought on by the holidays.
This coming Monday, November 13 at 6:00pm for GriefShare's "Surviving the Holidays" Seminar. Facilitator: Gloria Noonan. GriefShare Program Starting Monday, January 11th, 2021

This 13-week program features biblical, Christ-centered teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion about what was viewed. A workbook is given to each participate for journaling and personal study exercises that reinforce the weekly topics.

Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Don’t allow fear of what others may think to keep you from what could help you. Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. No matter how long its been or where you are in your grief, this group has something to offer you.

Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bo***ge to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.

GriefShare starts Monday, Jan. 11th, 2021 @ 6:00p.m. @ Central Church of Christ in Streator, IL. Please enter through the sliding glass door entrance.
