Every Mason can point to a Brother who changed his life.

Today is Masonic Mentor Appreciation Day, and this year’s theme is “My Mentor: A Masonic Exemplar.” To celebrate, we’re sharing four moving tributes from Illinois Brothers who reflect on the men who guided them not just through their degrees, but through life itself.

From a mentor who became a lifelong friend, to one lost too soon on an icy February morning—these are stories worth reading. Find them at the link in the comments.

This past Saturday, few of our brothers traveled to Grove Lodge to attend the Grand Lecture School – Type One and Type Two. It was an excellent day of learning, fellowship, and renewed appreciation for the work that binds us together.

We were honored to hear Right Worshipful Brother Angelo Deserio, who spoke on the importance of our ritual — not only in what makes Masonry unique and special, but in the timeless principles and lessons it conveys. His words were a powerful reminder of why we strive for excellence in our work and why our traditions matter.

Thank you to Grove Lodge for hosting, and to all the brethren who made the trip. Opportunities like this strengthen our craft and deepen our commitment to the Light we seek.

The Streator Masonic Lodge is proud to congratulate Trevor Larson, winner of the Books for Bikes program at Woodland Elementary School!

Between all three participating schools, students read an incredible 9,795 books. That level of dedication is truly inspiring, and we are honored to support a program that encourages a lifelong love of reading.

A huge congratulations to Trevor and to all the students who took part. Your hard work and enthusiasm made this year’s program a tremendous success. We can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Keep reading, keep growing, and keep trying your best at everything you do.

We were thrilled to visit Brother Lochbaum the other day and bring him a fruit basket and spent 45 minutes to an hour listening to some of his great stories. He felt like showing us his four medals he received, one of Which was for his service in WWII! Thank you brother Lochbaum, it is amazing you keep shining the way you do at 107 years old.

Here is to many more!
