On Sunday, September 20th, we will head out for our 24th Annual Autism Ride. We are one of the longest running rides out there.
Diane J. Tavolacci started this ride for her autistic son and I have continued her dream these last 10 years.
Did you know that it costs an average of $1.4 million to $2.4 million, depending heavily on the presence of a co-occurring intellectual disability, to raise an Autistic child? This is significantly higher than the estimated $303,418 required to raise a neurotypical child through age 18. Annually, families face specialized costs ranging anywhere from $17,000 to over $100,000 per year based on the child's age and support needs.
This Ride raises funds to help provide grants, scholarships & assist SLSF and Northwest Special Recreation Association- NWSRA develop and provide programs for our kids from early development through adulthood.
We invite all riders (bikes, cars, jeeps, trucks etc) to come out for a fun, police escorted ride through the backroads while helping us raise funds to help support the growing number of autistic children.
