Companion planting to keep in mind as you develop your gardening season

A vegetable garden works better when flowers are part of the plan 🌼 A few pairings to try:
🍅 Marigolds fit nicely around tomatoes
🌿 Nasturtiums can act like a trap crop near brassicas
🌻 Sunflowers bring in helpful insects, but give them space
💙 Borage is great near squash and tomatoes for pollinator visits
🤍 Sweet alyssum makes a pretty border and attracts beneficial bugs
I like planting flowers along the edges of veggie beds because they make the garden prettier while bringing in more life. It feels less like rows of chores and more like a real little ecosystem.

💐🪴We had a great TVGC member evening at the Arts in Bartlett. It was filled with Smokey the Bear State Poster winners, awards from the Garden Clubs of IL and our wonderful member Barb Delee led us into an evening filled with creativity painting clay pots ready to dress with beautiful flowers or plants 🪴💐
