Today marks nine years since VVF started!

Nine years ago, Victoria’s Victory Foundation was founded by a mother-daughter duo. While our programs have evolved, the people in this community remains at the heart of the work VVF does every day.

The work we’ve done is only the beginning. As we celebrate our nine year anniversary, our community’s need is only growing.

In the past six months alone, VVF received 241 applications, nearly a quarter of the total number of applications we have received in our nine-year history, and 342 resource navigation requests. These numbers reflect a growing need.

Together, our programs create a continuum of support. Yet these numbers also remind us that there is still much more work to do.

To EVERY person who has supported us along the way, from each donor, partner, collaborator and recipient, THANK YOU for being a part of our mission and for fueling us to do better for the community we serve, each and every day!

We’re just a few days away from a big milestone, VVF officially turns 9 this Friday! We’re celebrating by sharing a snapshot of the impact you’ve helped create so far.

Since 2017, VVF has supported 481 recipients and awarded $1,910,865 in Victory Scholarships.

The real story though is the people behind the numbers.

As Alma, a Victory Scholarship recipient shared: “VVF has given me my life back… I’m no longer homebound or dependent on others for my independence.”

Over the last few year, we’ve also expanded beyond scholarships, building tools that help this community find support nationwide, including resource navigation, a growing Knowledge Center, and new ways for recipients to connect.

Meet Sebastian!

After taking his motorcycle in for its first service, his brakes failed as he entered a corner. The crash left Sebastian with a C6 complete spinal cord injury.

Over time, Sebastian began rebuilding his independence. He attended activity based training sessions, learned to do more on his own, and eventually discovered a community within adaptive sports. That experience completely changed the way he saw his future.

For Sebastian, adaptive sports became more than recreation. They gave him a sense of community and hope for what life after injury could look like. But like so many people living with a mobility disability, the cost of adaptive equipment made it difficult to keep participating. He wanted to continue training, explore new sports, and eventually share those opportunities with others living with spinal cord injuries.

Thanks to the support of our donors, Sebastian received a Victoria’s Victory Foundation scholarship for partial funding of an adaptive bike.

“This scholarship means someone believes in my effort to rebuild my life after injury. It gives me a chance to move forward instead of feeling stuck on the sidelines.”
