📢 New blog post!

Adaptive sports programs create opportunities to move beyond the daily challenges of living with a disability and focus instead on what’s possible!

Check out the new blog post at victoriasvictory.org/blog to hear from several scholarship recipients about their favorite adaptive sports and how you can get involved!

What activity has helped you feel most free, connected, or empowered? If you’ve participated in adaptive sports or recreation, we’d love to hear your story, favorite activity, or advice for someone considering trying it for the first time. Share your experience in the comments!

For Laurie, a Victory Scholarship meant independence she hadn’t had in nearly three decades. This is the impact of your generosity.

Thank you to every donors and sponsor who make these moments possible!

“This Victory Scholarship means so much. We’ve struggled to get Avalon the adaptive equipment needed, and now we can enjoy the outdoors as a family.”

Avalon began having seizures at 14 months old, and after extensive testing later revealed FOXG1 syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disability.

As Avalon grew, the right equipment became essential for her safety. Thanks to our donors and sponsors, VVF provided Avalon with a Victory Scholarship for an adaptive stroller.

“Your donation gave Avalon proper support and the freedom to go from indoors to outdoors with ease. Avalong can now access her world. This has truly opened up so many opportunities for our family!”

Just 2 hours to go in NH Gives and you’ve helped VVF raise more than $6,000! Every dollar raised is so important as it allows us to help more people like Avalon. Thank you so much to all who have already donated!

Meet Nenia, a Victory Scholarship recipient and reigning Ms. Wheelchair NH. When several rare diseases impacted her mobility, Nenia went from being an active police officer to being unable to navigate her own home without assistance. She was unable to access the different floors of her home without help from a family member and would pack a bag to accommodate which floor she would be on for the entire day.

With the support of our VVF community, we were able to provide Nenia with a stairlift, which now allows her the independence to move from floor to floor by herself, giving her access and freedom in her own home!

“This stair lift has given me back the independence to move around my home, which I haven’t been able to do in over FIVE YEARS. My husband and I are no longer talking about selling this house. Instead, we’re talking about ways to make this our forever home, all because of this scholarship.”

Help us make victories like Nenia’s possible and give during NH Gives. Every dollar helps us get closer to our $50,000 goal! Donate here: https://www.nhgives.org/organization/vvfnh

Thank you again to our match sponsors!
The first $1,500 donated will be matched by NHCIBOR Cares
The next $3,000 donated will be matched by Meredith Village Savings Bank
The next $5,000 donated will be matched by BILH Exeter Hospital

What did give me?

They gave me back my independence. They made me feel like a whole person again in my own home. They made me feel like I’m no longer a burden on my family members. They gave me the freedom to be able to move around without relying on anyone else.

I took these stairs and my ability to use them for granted before I got sick. When I could no longer walk up and down them, I was trapped in my own house. We thought we were going to have to move.

Believe it or not, critical equipment like this is not covered by most insurance companies. But VVF gave me this life changing gift, and now my house actually feels like a home again!

Meet Daria, one of our new scholarship recipients, who needed an everyday wheelchair that fits properly. Keep reading to see the difference this new chair has already made in Daria’s day to day life.

“I can’t begin to say how grateful I am for this scholarship. It’s only been a week with my new wheelchair, and I can already say this is going to change the way I go about all of my daily activities. I can get up hills independently that I’ve never been able to manage on my own before, and with ease. I can sit in my chair at work without starting to feel pain in my back. I can also get up and down curbs much more easily on my own.

This new chair is genuinely such a game changer, and I’m beyond excited to start this new chapter of my life with a piece of equipment that truly supports my active lifestyle.

It’s such a big time in my life, and it feels so meaningful to know that despite all the challenges I face with my rare neurological disease, I can still accomplish big things, largely thanks to the support of my community. So, thank you beyond words.”
