I am happy to announce that my organization has been awarded a 3 year grant from SAMHSA to train health professions students & student veterans in su***de intervention skills. Data indicates that 57-63% of persons who die by su***de visit a healthcare provider in the 30 days prior to their death. My brother Walter did.
Healthcare providers are also at higher risk of su***de behaviors. My Uncle Julio was.
The number of lives that will be saved by this project cannot be underestimated.
Walter & Tio Julio, this one's for you 🕯❤

The Patriot Resilient Leader Institute is pleased to announce that it's next Camp Resilience session will run from 11AM on Monday, September 11th through 3PM on Thursday, September 14th. It will be a special session for veterans who are the victims of Military Sexual Trauma (MST).

The sports activities will include kayaking, hiking, yoga, water aerobics and the Aerial Treetop Adventures at Gunstock Mountain. The life skills workshops will be focused on helping veterans with MST build resilience by learning to understand and strengthen interpersonal boundaries and relationships. Activities will include art therapy, movement therapy, outdoor/indoor challenge learning and group discussions.

We will welcome up to 12 veterans to participate in this session. As always, there is no cost to the participants of our Camp Resilience program - the costs for all lodging, food, and activities are covered. We would prefer if the veterans or the organizations that send them could provide transportation to/from Gilford, NH. However, if necessary, we can probably help with transportation. We will also cover the costs for counselors from the sending organizations to participate in the Camp Resilience session as facilitators.
