All,
I wanted to take a minute to clarify a few things.
First, I am sorry for all of the confusion surrounding this years event. It has not been easy to say the least. There have been many obstacles thrown our way that we've had to work through.
When our group was asked to take over the entertainment portion of Stratford Jamboree weekend, we were really excited to bring a big named act to town and provide a show like Stratford has never seen before. With that idea in mind, we knew that we would have to spend significant money on the event and we just assumed that the community would support it by paying a small cover charge. That assumption has proven to be a bad one on our end. We did plan to host a taco cookoff competition at the event, which would provide food for all attendees, and we also planned to provide adult beverages for those who are old enough to consume them. We figured that free food, free booze, and a great concert would be a steal at $35 per person. Then came the issue of blocking off the street, as has been done in years past. The band that we are bringing requires a rather large stage and music/light set-up, which requires a lengthy process of setting it all up. We were told by city council members that it was not possible to block off 3rd Street for as long of a time period as we needed so we began to seek out other locations. Chuck and Angela Harbour immediately went to work on our behalf and prepared their property for our event. A big THANK YOU to them.
To make a long story short, we have now been given the go-ahead to have the concert on 3rd and Main. We will be providing the entertainment for you free of charge. We will no longer host the taco cookoff or offer free adult beverages. We will have food trucks present and you are welcome to BYOB.
I've learned really quickly that it's impossible to please everyone, so I'll just do my best moving forward.
My focus has now shifted to providing a new home for the family of Matthew Ramirez, who lost his life in the tornado that struck Perryton. It is my hope that many of you will find it in your heart to make a donation to this worthy cause.
If you are not able to contribute financially, will you please help this family by sharing this information with friends and family?
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions.
Thank you,
Paul Davis
