Strasburg Fire and Rescue

Strasburg Rural Fire Department is a volunteer organization in Strasburg North Dakota. We currently have around 20 active firefighters with various experience.

History of the Department

The fire department was organized in 1909, exact date not known. Some of the first equipment purchased were water pails. After some time, they invested in two water tanks mounted on large wheels. These tanks were pulled to fire sites. The department had the first motorized fire truck in Emmons county. It was a 1922 W.S. Nott open-cab model and is displayed next to the fire department building today.

Strasburg Fire and Rescue is part of a wonderful area of small Volunteer Fire Departments where local men and women volunteer to help protect their Fire Districts. But when we are called to Mutual Aid with our Brothers and Sisters in need, we show up and together with them can conquer anything. Strasburg Fire and Rescue is proud to be a part of this area’s Fire Departments and to help our Neighboring Departments in their time of need as they have done for us in the past. Strasburg Fire and Rescue was proud to aid, along with eight other area Departments, in stopping this wildfire this past week outside of Hazelton. Working together as a unit and as cooperating departments...That is what we do. We are Volunteers and we are always on call and will always respond to help and protect you and your property!

It's so wonderful to see progress on the building expansion to our Fire Hall. Thanks going out to everyone from the construction crew to donating sponsors to Strasburg Fire and Rescue members to the Strasburg Fire District Board for your help, understanding and appreciation for this Fire Department and what we provide to our Fire District. Things are really moving forward for Strasburg Fire and Rescue. We have our new sign, we have our backup generator in place so even when the power goes out we are still able to respond 100% and our building expansion is proceeding perfectly. Thanks again to those who have donated in any way shape or form to this major project. This building expansion is necessary for us to continue to serve you...the wonderful people of the Strasburg Fire District with trained and experienced Firefighters, EMT's and First Responders. We can't thank you enough!

Strasburg Fire and Rescue will be testing our sirens, especially our Tornado siren on Wednesday June 10th from approximately 7pm to 8pm. Please note that the siren will be going on and off during this time. This is just a test of our audio system and there is no cause for concern and No action needs to be taken by the public. Thanks.

Just to let you know how bad it is out there. The Strasburg Fire Department reminds you to play it safe. Anyone of these three weather statements are bad enough alone but to be all issued at the same time really compounds things. Remember it takes so little to start a fire even without the conditions we are dealing with right now. Be safe don't do anything unnecessary and please please report smoke or fire right away. In conditions like these every second counts. Thanks again and stay safe 🙏
