What if your board was one of your organization's greatest strengths?

As part of Stronger Together: Nonprofit Learning Day, George Neighbors of X-Roads Advisory will show you how it can be through an engaging afternoon workshop focused on building a stronger, more effective board.

Designed for both board members and staff who support boards, this practical and interactive session will explore board roles and responsibilities, productive meetings, communication, governance best practices, and how board needs evolve throughout the nonprofit lifecycle.

Whether you're looking to improve board engagement, strengthen governance, or build a healthier partnership between staff and board leadership, you'll leave with tools you can put into practice right away.

Can't attend the full day? That's ok! This afternoon workshop is available as a standalone registration option.

It's time for the Route 11 Yard Crawl!

This annual tradition is about so much more than finding great deals and hidden treasures. It's about connecting with neighbors, sharing stories, supporting one another, and celebrating the spirit that makes our community special.

The same spirit drives the work of the Community Foundation. When people invest in their community, whether through time, talent, or charitable giving, those gifts create opportunities that last far beyond a single day.

As you enjoy the Crawl this weekend, we invite you to celebrate the power of giving forward and the many ways we can all help build a brighter future together.
Happy treasure hunting, and thank you for being part of our community!

What if creating lasting change in our community was as simple as a small monthly gift?

We're excited to invite you to join our Monthly Giving Program, an easy and meaningful way to support the causes and nonprofits that make our community stronger year-round.

✨ And there's never been a better time to start. Now through November, every new monthly gift will be matched up to a total of $10,000, thanks to a generous donor. Those matching funds will help provide Giving Tuesday grants to local nonprofits, maximizing the impact of community generosity. And beyond Giving Tuesday, monthly giving helps:

✅ Strengthen our community all year long
✅ Support trusted local nonprofits
✅ Create lasting change right here at home

The best part? Every gift matters. Whether it's $10, $25, or $50 a month, your consistent support adds up to make a real difference.

Join us in building a stronger community: one month, one gift, one act of generosity at a time.

Start your monthly gift today on our website (link in bio).

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Foundation After Five. And a special thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, First Bank, for your ongoing support of the Foundation and our community.

Events like this remind us that some of the best ideas, partnerships, and opportunities to make a difference start when people come together. Our community is stronger when we connect and invest in what matters right here at home.

We're grateful to everyone who spent the evening with us and look forward to continuing the work of building a stronger community together.

Fund Friday Spotlight🔦

This week we are honored to highlight a brand new fund: The Timothy Joseph Ambrose Memorial Music Scholarship Fund.

This fund was established by family in memory of Timothy “Tim” Joseph Ambrose, a 2002 graduate from Stonewall Jackson High School. Tim was a remarkably talented self-taught musician who composed and arranged his own music, sang, and played multiple instruments. He spent several years playing music with a number of different musicians from Harrisonburg to Wi******er and beyond, with most of those years playing as part of the Rinard Family Band, the Boomerang Band, the Tim Cintron Project, the Luke Johnson Band, and the Trevor Rick Band as well as his independent project, the Ambrose Dilemma, releasing his first solo album in 2023.

Tim brought the joy of music into every aspect of his life, and this scholarship is established in his honor as a way to continue to bring that joy to others who share a strong interest in pursuing music.

You can help honor Tim's memory and support local students with a passion for music by contributing to this scholarship fund at: https://scfva.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1992

For 250 years, Americans have shown up for each other through neighbors helping neighbors, communities rallying around causes, and foundations investing in what matters most. That tradition is alive and well across our nation and right here in Shenandoah County.
