Steve Needs A Kidney

Two years ago, I received my life-saving kidney transplant! I celebrated my kidneyversary yesterday with my family at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Walking around, enjoying the fresh air, the sunshine and the atmosphere is something that I wasn't able to do only two years ago. I was struggling with memory loss, I was tired and weak, and I was preparing myself to begin dialysis in a matter of months.

To those who are also on this journey of receiving an organ donation, be patient with the healing 🙏 ❤️

So excited to announce that my honey, my love, my hero, Steve, is home from the hospital 🏥 after receiving his kidney transplant.

The surgeons found something funky this morning with the new kidney. They have taken Steve into surgery now to see if the kidney can be saved or if it needs to come out.

Update: Steve's creatinine levels continue to go up instead of down. This is not what we want. Creatinine is waste in your body that is filtered out through your kidneys. CKD patients have higher creatinine as their disease gets worse. So today Steve will have a biopsy on his new kidney to see what's going on. Hopefully it's something simple that can be fixed. Maybe just a traumatized kidney from the transplant and it will settle on its own.

HEY EVERYONE! My husband got a kidney transplant! ❤️

Surgery went very well. Steve will be resting for a solid 24 hours.

Before the transplant can take place, tons of lavatory and tests must be done to ensure that Steve is healthy and ready for his new kidney.

COVID test ✅️
Xrays ✅️

Doctor from the transplant team also came in to answer any questions we have and talk a little about the procedure.

Surgery is scheduled for 7:30 tonight!

We have been waiting since December of2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ for this day to come. We are at the hospital now! Steve is getting his kidney transplant!

We found out yesterday that my husband Steve has reached stage 5️⃣ of Chronic Kidney Disease. What does this mean? Steve's kidneys have severe damage and are close to failure (stopped working). His kidneys are now functioning at 12%.

While this news is devastating to myself and our children, we are staying positive that we will find a match for a kidney transplant🤞🏼.
