Twin States Network has provided services to people living with HIV in VT and NH since 1991.

Although it's overshadowed by the current epidemic, people living with HIV are still in need of the programs that Twin States Network provides. During this time of isolation, the virtual retreats, Zoom support groups and one-one peer mentors have provided much needed services for those in the HIV community.

Twin States Network is holding an on-line auction as other fundraisers are off the table. Below is the link to this World AIDS Day fundraiser.

At the August fundraiser in Guilford, we met a woman whose daughter is HIV+ and lives in Florida, She writes a blog for an organization called the Well Project. Below is an excerpt from that blog.

"So I called my Mama before sitting down to the computer .
She was so happy to tell me about her stop at Brattleboro Rest Area in Vermont. On the sidewalk of the rest area ,like every year , they are selling or giving information for donations.
to some local organization.
Flashback to my trip to see my Mom and heal in May . We talked about hiv openly. We discussed if the girls should know. I told my Dad . I was open with so many people. It was liberating. From all this acceptance I started recruiting Knitters for the red scarf project. I Believe Zee was the responsible party for this event starting.
She has been waiting to knit red scarfs for newly diagnosed. I also have more willing participants. See now they shared this idea openly with strangers. Yet not strangers sisters asking for help on how we are doing it here. She was joyed to know another woman that knew about hiv and was able to communicate about it without shame. Hiv is not a crime and they do have scrumptious bake goods . So I am told .
Had I not taken the step to connect to my Mom and my hometown ,I may have missed a chance to share strength.
How many of these moments have there been ?
Yet I hardly recognized I made a difference.
To introduce more woman to our family . When I was looking for a way to educate and help in the fight . That is exactly what my sisters did and still do for me today. Empower and encourage.
I would first like to say Mom You are A Rockstar, Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This woman I will not give her name is exactly the woman that should be given a scholarship for Aids Watch. She is eager . Fundraising, asking questions. Reaching out . I nominate Miss Vermont for a scholarship."
