Glad We Can - Mission One - Atlantic City, NJ
10/31/2021: Our first mission in Atlantic City was a success…

The gratitude was kicking in pretty strong as my mom and I drove back over the bridge from Atlantic City to Brigantine.
My how incredibly blessed we are! It’s a tale of two, entirely different worlds!!!
The thing that probably stood out to us the most on this inaugural mission was the overall attitude of the people who were gladly receiving our little packages.
They were extremely kind, happy and grateful, all things considered.
This being our first trip, we were a bit nervous and unclear of exactly how to proceed. We grabbed some hot dogs, buns and snacks from the local grocery store, and we had already received a friendly donation of a few handmade winter hats.
At the house, we cooked up the dogs, bagged up the snacks and were well on our way.

I knew, from years pondering how exactly one person could 'change the world', that, above all else, it takes action.
This is one of the main reasons I wanted to embark on a journey of giving back in the first place.
After countless, frustrating hours inside my mind questioning why the world had forsaken a section of humanity, and wondering how we could go about making an impact towards meaningful change, I had decided that it was time to start simplifying things.
-There were people out there hungry.
-It only costs 20 bucks to put together a nice, little assortment of food.
-Just go out into the world, putting aside judgement and fear, and feed some hungry faces.
The food was one thing. I mean, this was survival, after all.
But, at the end of the day, we can only assume that these ‘tiny’ sparks of hope are what's holding the foundation of humanity together.
People helping people, showing love and care; that’s what lies beneath our reality and holds it in place spiritually.
We can look around and pass judgements on our society all we’d like. And we can shake our heads in dismay at the current state of our inner-cities. But, we must know, and believe, that love and kindness not only exist, but are a necessary component in keeping the planet in harmony.
It can go one way or the other. And, for me, for us, standing around thinking and talking about it just didn't seem to be enough anymore.

The wisest of wisdom will always end with a reflection back within, to the man in the mirror. It is through the self that all is achieved. If I am grateful - and I am certainly blessed - well then I feel good taking some time out of my day and offering even the smallest spark of hope to humanity.
I aspire for our mission to grow into something highly impactful.
Deep down, I know that it will.
