Stow Historical Society The Stow Historical Society preserves the history of Stow, Ohio, through historic home tours, educational programs and the annual Harvest Festival.

One of the longest-running organizations in Stow, Ohio, the Stow Historical Society was founded by a group of people interested in preserving the history and artifacts of Stow Township. The first meeting of Stow Historical Society was held January 30th, 1950 with 30 charter members. The objective of the society was “to gather and record all historical data pertaining to the development of Stow Tow

nship.”

The Stow Historical Society continues to preserve the history of Stow through its historic home tours and collection of significant local artifacts. School tours give every third grader in Stow a chance to learn about the history of Stow and see up close the belongings of Stow’s early settlers. Members enjoy educational programs at seven member meetings a year. An annual picnic is held in August and an installation of officers luncheon in December. The annual fall Harvest Festival is the Society's main fundraiser.

We are holding the 47th Stow Historical Society
Annual Harvest Festival
Sat Sept 26 & Sun Sept 27, 10am – 4pm.
We are asking all former local vendors and artisans and any vendor who has not joined us yet to join us for this great two day event!
We have inside, air conditioned spots for only $75, as well as outside 12x14 foot spots for only $55. We also have some 10x10 canopies to rent for the outside spots, if needed.

The Stow Historical Society held its annual picnic for members and guests this last Monday at the Heritage Barn with great food and greater fellowship. We welcomed and honored four former teachers in the City of Stow public school system. Laura and Ted Root, as well as Nancy and David Reinhart all from the class of 1959 at the Stow High School who shared their find and fun memories of living and teaching within the school system here. Also thanks to Frank Wetmore for leading us in a blessing before the meal and Tom Stephan for the great introductions. We are thankful so many were able to come out and honor these teachers! Thank you all again!

Sights and memories of the 2026 Joshua Stow Festival this last weekend...including the opening of the 50 year old Time Capsule! We will do a bigger writeup of the time capsule in its own post soon! On July 5th, 1976, the Stow Jaycees Wives along with the Stow Historical Society buried a time capsule out at our Heritage House Museum of many smaller items from the time.
Here is the time capsule that we dug up over the past few days too!
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of that event, to also celebrate the 250th birth of the USA, we are planning on opening the Time Capsule during this year's Joshua Stow Festival this Saturday, June 20th at approximately 1:00 PM at Heritage Reserve Park, 5120 Young Road Stow Ohio 44224! Please come out and see what is inside for this exciting time and anniversary!
