Today, the Joshua Stow Chapter NSDAR recognizes Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the passage of the 19th Amendment and the long journey toward women’s right to vote.

We honor the women who courageously advocated for this fundamental right and recognize the importance of making our voices heard through civic engagement and participation in our democracy.

🇺🇸 Honoring the 19th Amendment 🇺🇸

On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified, affirming that the right to vote could not be denied on the basis of s*x.

The Joshua Stow Chapter NSDAR honors the generations of women who worked, advocated, and persevered to secure this fundamental right. Their determination helped shape our democracy and opened the door for women across our nation to have a greater voice in civic life.

Today, we celebrate their legacy by remembering that our right to vote is both a privilege and a responsibility. 💜🇺🇸

✈️ Honoring the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) ✈️

The Joshua Stow Chapter NSDAR recognizes the establishment of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) program on August 5, 1943.

During World War II, these pioneering women answered the call to serve their country by flying military aircraft, ferrying planes, towing targets, testing aircraft, and performing other vital aviation duties, freeing male pilots for combat service.

Although our post comes a little after the anniversary, we proudly honor the WASP aviators whose courage, skill, and determination helped pave the way for generations of women in military and civilian aviation.

🇺🇸 Honoring the United States Coast Guard 🇺🇸

The Joshua Stow Chapter NSDAR recognizes the establishment of the United States Coast Guard, founded on August 4, 1790.

For more than two centuries, the Coast Guard has stood watch over our nation’s waters, carrying out vital missions of maritime safety, security, law enforcement, search and rescue, and national defense.

While our post comes a few days after the anniversary, our appreciation is always timely. We honor the generations of Coast Guard members who have served, and continue to serve, with courage, dedication, and commitment to our nation.

Coming Soon to the Cuyahoga Falls Library!

The American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit will be visiting the Cuyahoga Falls Library from October 4–17, 2026.

Created by the American Battlefield Trust in partnership with the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, this national traveling exhibit explores the people, places, and stories of the American Revolutionary War.

The exhibit is touring communities across the country through 2027, and we’re excited our community will have the opportunity to experience it here in Cuyahoga Falls.

💜 Honoring Purple Heart Day 💜

The Joshua Stow Chapter NSDAR recognizes and honors Purple Heart Day and the brave men and women who have served our nation and sacrificed in defense of our freedoms.

Although our post is a little late, our gratitude and respect are always timely. We remember and honor all Purple Heart recipients for their courage, sacrifice, and service to our country.

We are proud to recognize Chapter Regent Debbie Schinker and chapter member Judy Faris for representing our chapter at the City of Stow's Community Reading of the Declaration of Independence! 🇺🇸

Debbie had the honor of serving as one of the community readers during this special celebration of America's history and heritage. It was a wonderful opportunity to commemorate the principles of our nation's founding alongside fellow community members.

As Daughters of the American Revolution, the Joshua Stow Chapter, NSDAR is committed to honoring the legacy of our Patriot ancestors by promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Participating in events like this reflects our dedication to celebrating our nation's heritage and keeping the ideals of the Declaration of Independence alive for future generations.
