We'll miss you Violet! 😢

Violet Gray, born Violet Glenny
May 10, 1934 – November 24, 2025

Violet Gray, born Violet Glenny, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 24, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on May 10, 1934, in Glasgow, Scotland, and grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and the rich traditions of her Scottish heritage.

As a young woman, Violet met the love of her life, Alex Gray, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy in Scotland. Captivated by their connection and the promise of a shared life together, Violet made the brave and loving decision to leave her homeland and cross the Atlantic to the United States to be with him. Settling in Stow, Massachusetts, they married and built a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring devotion—a true testament to their lifelong bond. Though she embraced her life in the United States, Violet carried her Scottish spirit with her always—expressed through her stories, her humor, and her quiet resilience.

Violet was the loving mother of Tim Gray and his wife Kelly; Gordon Gray and his partner Kelly; and Rob Gray. She was predeceased by her cherished daughter, Bonnie Lauer in October 2025. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren—who affectionately called her Nanny—Katie, Kimberly, and Daniel Lauer; Heather and Brittany Gray, and Courtney Anderson; Felicia Truax and Amber Smith and 13 great grandchildren. Violet was also Aunt Violet to many nieces and nephews, who cherished her warmth, humor, and love. She is survived by her brother George Glenny, who still resides in Scotland, along with extended family and many dear friends across both countries.
After 12 years without the love of her life, Alex, they are finally together again in eternal life.

A woman of many talents, Violet found joy in the heartfelt acts that brought people together. She loved baking, filling her home with the warm, comforting aroma of fresh treats she eagerly shared with others. She was also an avid crocheter and loved making blankets for family and friends, each one a testament to her care and creativity. Violet especially loved Christmas, delighting in the holiday traditions, decorations, and the joy of bringing family together during the season. Her family will especially miss the adventure of opening their "Nanny present" every Christmas and the surprise of what special treats they would receive.

Known for her kindness, gentle wit, and layers of jewelry, Violet created a home that radiated warmth and togetherness. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel cared for, and her generous spirit touched all who knew her.

Violet’s legacy lives on in the compassion she showed, the traditions she preserved, and the love she poured into everything she did.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hudson Eagles Club, 271 Cox St, on December 20, 2025, from 1–4PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Violet’s lifelong spirit of generosity. A charity near and dear to Violet's heart is the Stow Council on Aging.

May Violet Gray, born Violet Glenny, rest in peaceful eternal light.
